I'm swapping a 12v into my 1973 IH crew cab, and ran into a snag. The steering box is right where the outlet on the intercooler goes to the intake pipe. My question is can I fip my intercooler so that the outlets are on top? The air would go through the cooler backwards. Do the intercoolers only flow one direction or will I be ok. I asked this question in the conversion forum and got only one reply, just wanted to ask again to be sure it would work before i rebulid the mounts. BTW the intercooler is from a 12v ram also. thanks for any help.

I don't see any reason why you can't flip the intercooler upside down, there aren't valves or anything in there to only allow air to flow one way.

One easy way to be positive is to blow into the outlet and see if air comes out the inlet. I doubt if you'll have problems with it though.

Considering you have room to clear the radiator and everything else (I don't know how everything is configured, so, just a consideration.

that's what i thought to. I guess if it doesn't work after i get the truck running I could have a radiator shop take the center core out and flip it so the core would flow like stock , and only the inlet and outlet would be reversed.
