I bought a wrecked 1999 truck and the radiater and intercooler were busted. I don't know much about what the intercooler does so if you all were in my shoes what would you do as far as a intercooler goes? Please include advantages of suggested intercooler and prices.

NEW from D E A L E R Can run as high as $1275. 00

Go the EBAY route they are allways on.

One Of them

Another

There are aftermarket ones available and even performance too.

But if you are stock and even under 500 H. P I would EBAY all DAY.

try www.sourceautomotive.com (phone # is on the site) I was just looking at a high performance one there the other day susposta be a 20% improvement over stock in cooling eficency(sp) not sure of the price? wish I knew of them before I had to have mine replaced oh well!

Your intercooler is like a radiator for the air coming in to the motor.

When the air (as anything) is compressed by the turbo, it heats up, thus losing density. This lowers the amount of oxygen the motor can use in a cycle for combustion which will lower your power.

As the heated air passes through the intercooler, it gets cooled down by the outside air passing through the fins, taking up some of that extra heat created by compression.

You didn't say this directly, but it sounded like you were going to ditch the intercooler... ... DON'T. It helps a lot with the performance of the motor.

You can also go to https://www.dodgeparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html

They have good prices for OEM parts.

Hope this helps.
