I hate to post on topic after a thread has been hijacked but I found some things I found interesting anyway. :D

1) Leave a door open and the dome light comes on. Leave it open long enough and it goes out by itself, saving the battery.

2) Related to (1), try and find the pin switches which detect that a door is open!

3) Standing outside the truck I heard a fan type noise from the back of the cab. I had the fan running in the cab. Upon looking there appears to be two louvered exhaust ports on the back of the cab to exhaust cab air. I've never noticed another vehicle with that.

That's all for now.

TBrennan the pin switches are in the latch in door, take a screwdriver and make the latch close as if you had closed the door and the chime will stop.

You just have to remember to (open) the door before you close it.

I have done this a few times when I needed to have the door open with the key in the ignition.

The upshift light only operates with the 3. 7L V6 and 4. 7L V8 1500s with 5-speed manuals, since those trucks are fuel-economy rated by the EPA. Since the HDs are not rated, you will never see the upshift light come on, not even with the Hemi.

hmm, in my 1500 4. 7 5 speed, i have yet to see the up shift light [& i've had it up to just about 6k rpm]... when i do the instrument cluster light up trick, that light does not light up, so i guess it is not a function for it

RankRam,

Allright! Good find, that little "feature" solves an issue that many people have complained about, wanting to have the door open and the radio on. Nice.

Here's one: ever notice how long it takes for the brake lights to go out after you remove your foot from the brake pedal? It's like 2 seconds.

I could turn this around for you with the statistics in Canada and other countries that have DTRL's and how accidents are reduced substantially and so are fatalities.

Also, one click of the e-brake does not engage the brake but it does turn off the DTRL. Any idiot would know that.

Several of the GM's and many european vehicles have DTRL standard as well as motorcycles. Lots of idiots out there.

Its a law in most countries now and since they run on a lower voltage its less for a glare. The sun gives much more glare then these lights.

Thats just my opinion. Kinda like a few I read here.

Scotty, the idiot

You cant help it, it must be that french thing... Just Joking

I need a coffee
:D :D :D:D

From the Idiot that started this (I run DRL for ins discount & other reasons), found out the dash side panels will pull off and give some better access for running "things". Just pry them loose and drop a little as there is a "catch" that goes up under the A pillar covers. Same place as the 2g's fuzes.

Finally made the wire for the XM display look "neater".

Many of you may ahve found that if you eject a CD from the radio, it goes back in after 20 seconds or so.

The other day I accidentally hit the eject button instead of the Mode button. Anyways I left it and it sucked it back in as always. And, as always, it didn't automatically play the CD because it's smart enough to know that you were probably done with the CD anyhow (very cool).

But when I got back in my truck a few hours later, I hit the Mode button to listen to that CD and it remembered what track and time it was on before I hit the eject button. Even after turning off the engine.

It's the little things ;)

Duck, now really, WE are supposed to believe that YOU remember where the CD was playing last??? All that heat down there has fried your brain!:(

I clipped the wire for the "key in ignition" chime. ;)

I hated it chiming all the time.

LOL :D

I guess this heat could have damaged something upstairs. It's only supposed to get up to 107 today, so I'll do some further testing and let you know if my results vary

I was up your way this weekend. Beautiful weather, and no gas/diesel shortage

Bighammer: more info please!!!

Which wire did you clip and does this only affect the chime for the ignition?

I have the security option and would'nt want to foul that up. TIA

mine has security chip key thing too. Works fine except on accesory the radio is blank (no readout at all) and audio buttons on the back of the wheel don't work. (only accessory mode)

I'll see if I made a note of it some place or crawl under and look and see which one I cut.

Went to put the 3M on the fog lites and turned them and the park lites on. After about 3 min they went out (of course I thought the bulb burnt out while installing the 3M but then saw the rest were out). Havent tried it agn but suspect that it will shut them off to conserve batts. Key was not in ing at the time and need to see if it works for the headlites also.

EDIT: The headlites also work, if you leave your lites on they will shut off after a period of time (about 5-10 min). When you open a door they come back on. Sew, u could leave them on and never turn them off - for those in Alaska this could "save" wear & tear on the switch :);) !! durning those LOONNG nites.

Back to the DRL issue, when you shut down with the lites on they stay on for a while. Does it look like they are DIMMER tho? Mine "appear" 2b but cannot really tell. If they are, then there may b a way to get the DRL to work.

Figured I'd bring this one back to the top and we could probably add to it...

How to's:

Turn off seat belt / door chime

reset the locking modes

headlites staying on after key is turned off - can be set by dealer for 30, 60, 90 seconds (turn off headlites after shutting down eng for this to work)
