I am curious with the volume of lift pump issues on these forums,, a design or specification issue with DC I assume,, why aren't the lift pumps purchased directly from cummins better, more relable? than the pumps spected out by DC??? With the amount of problems with those pumps one would think cummins would have a more robust replacement available along with a pressure regulator limiting pressure to 15 lbs. . under all conditions. . :)

I just had another brain f**t,, hey maybe we should hook up parallel lift pumps with a check valve setup to prevent back flow with a DTDP switch on the dash so if one goes out we can just switch to the backup... :--) what do you think????Oo. Oo. Oo.

The pumps DC supplies are the same ones Cummins sells.

The one thing I am wondering is if Cummins/Dodge ever went to Carter and said, "hey, your pump is not working for our application. Why doesn't it meet the specs we set forth to you as an OEM supplier". You'd think Carter would then modify the design to last longer or something. But I guess it all comes down to profit and loss. The only loss they are seeing is the reduction in anticipated profit. If anyone was was actually losing more than it cost them in R&D and manufacturing, they would make corrections then I suppose.
