The day I first drove my '03 off the lot I noticed a lot of play in the driveline and wondered if I might not have a faulty u-joint. Other family members and folks here on the board told me that this was normal and that if I would just run it up to 2000 rpm or higher before shifting I'd not notice it so much. 62K miles later the center u-joint went out. I just picked the truck up from the dealer today and was surprised to note that the slop in the driveline was now gone. I'm beginning to think that the u-joint really was faulty from day one. On a side note, the dealer repaired the u-joint, replaced a sticky injector, and replaced the block heater that kept leaking. No they didn't waive the $100 deductible but all in all the service was much better then I was expecting. Sure nice to have my quiet gen 3 back.
