What do you spend for Diesel.

You think DC parts are high?

While stopping In North Georgia at my fav sandwich shop today In the parking lot was a truck with cummins all over it. it belonged to Cummins South. it was a service truck. the Part that blew my mind was this,It was a ford Power stroke!!! isnt this like a cardinal sin. I bet corporate Cummins would not like to see that!! Had to share this for what ever its worth. Maybe there is a good reason?? Happy new year all.

Nothing wrong there, or here, our shop uses the F-550 Powerstrokes too. The main reason is because Ford is the only manufacturer that makes and sells something that has the GVWR of the 550 in the USA.

RKhon,

nada for good motors on the 550s... .

ISBs and kittyCATs (and the 2 powerjokes) are available in the 650s on up.

one of the reasons that Freightliners seem to be the choice rig going above the 3500 Rams. JMHO. ;)

Engine not withstanding, now they need to take note of GM's offerings. Now I don't know how the weight ratings compare but from what I see in ads, that looks like a tilt hood to me.

I never intended to imply a right or wrong notation to my post It just struck me as different and that service truck was a 350. nothing more no super duty etc. I realize its a free country and we can drive whatever we choose to drive. Thats the best part of living in this great country. Freedom. Its still strikes me as odd and not the greatest advertisement for the Cummins company to have the Power stroke pulling the Logo of cummins. and as a stock holder of cummins corp. I would have prefered to see a cummins!! The above is only my opinion. take it for what ever its worth. no harm here either way. Patrick

Cummins is the best in the industry!! This can be disputed I know. .

We joke about it at work, but a truck as a whole is a truck. The 450-550's have the cab of the super duty trucks, so no tilt hood there. The big problem as I see it, is that a 1-ton is just the right size for most road techs, but after installing service body, crane, outriggers, and of course tools, it is just maxed out. You are stuck unless you buy a ford, it's either step up to a true medium duty, deal with the 1-ton dodge set-up, or go the ford route. All of the trucks have their own little quirks no matter what powers them down the road; just keeps life interesting :D

Theres a local business that the owners and I believe just about everyone who works for them drives a Cummins powered dodge. Obviously these people love it and believe in it. Recently they bought 2 or 3 company work trucks, and I'm almost positive they are only 1 tons, but they were all powerstrokes. This tells me that Ford only sells all these trucks because they cut one heck of a deal on company and fleet trucks. That could be the only reason those guys would do it I know... to save money.

Good Point Wirenut

Kind of like the Taurus every corp had them as there employee company cars. fleet buying yields a deal and ford does alot Of That I believe. Makes sense now. I understand alot of companies trade off there vehicles no matter what condition etc they are in Buy them depriciate them out and do it again. so the Cummins would outlive the time they wish to keep the vehicle anyway. Hence why buy the best and pay more. . My accountant is always after me to get a new Truck. I dont need one My cummins is just broke in at 95K.
