Hey guys, I have just developed a new problem with my '06 Laramie 3500. For about three weeks now, I am experiencing an early time out of my interior lights.

If I am looking for something in the dark, the lights will turn off after about 15-20 seconds. Before, they would stay lit for several minutes before turning off. I understand that the automatic turn off is a fail safe for the battery, but 20 seconds is not enough time to find stuff in a dark truck.

If any of you have had this issue, please let me know how the problem was corrected. Thanks, Chuck

Hey RankRam,

Thanks a million for the information. Once again, my membership in The TDR has proven to be a real value. You guys are the best.

Yep... . seems to be showing up more and more... I think I may have been one of the first to experience it. There is a dealership software update for this fix. But I have heard that you can disconnect the batteries for several minutes and it will fix it also...

When this first happened to my 06 3500, the dealer told me I needed a new computer and they would order it (warranty). Meanwhile a quick search on TDR yielded the suggestion that disconnecting the batteries for 45 minutes would fix it. This fix lasted a couple of years and I had to do the disconnect trick again. I recently noticed that my headlights don't flash anymore when I unlock the doors with the remote. Perhaps disconnecting the batteries will fix this also.

Oh, I never did get the computer swapped - TDR fixed the problem!

Had the same problem as well. I was replacing parts in my HVAC unit so the batteries were disconnected for two days. That did fix the problem for now. I presume it will happen again, but a disconnected battery is pretty easy.

The time out is a setting. On my truck I can adjust the time with the over head display. I can also adjust the time the head lights stay on and turn the horn off for locking and unlocking the doors.
