Hi All:

I am embarking on an effort to replace the entire sound system on my 94, including the speakers. Well, I am stuck on step 1, removal of the handle that rolls up the window! Not a good start. Plastic stuff and I don't get along at all, so I am in need of advice. The service manual shows a trim removal tool slipping between the handle and door panel, implying that one simply pries the handle off and that it is a press fit. I have tried to follow this procedure and it does not budge. I have applied only modest muscle to this point. Am I missing something or should I just go for it at the risk of damaging something.

Thanks, Steve Whalen

Is this the tool that the manual shows???

If so then the clip looks like the one pictured under the handle in this e-bay link.

You can trip them by pushing in on the door panel and use a small screwdriver to push one side or the other out of the slot.

BE CAREFUL, they will go flying, try to follow it until it lands somewhere... . :)

Mike:

Thank you. That is the exact tool shown in the service manual and the ebay crank is a clone of my own. now i have some idea what is holding this critter on and have no excuse for breaking plastic. However, odds are that i will still end up with a clip somewhere across the other side of the driveway :(
