Can anybody tell me where I can get some agate interior paint for my truck? I had a friend of mine send his girlfriend to the local dealership to go get some today with the correct part number and they told her it was illegal to sell interior paint. They told here they could sell the exterior stuff but not the interior. I don't know about these guys sometimes.

The dealers in Portland sell the factory spray paint to match all of the interiors that DC makes. My only complaint is that the cans are so small!!

Maybe they can't sell the spray paint where you're at due to graffiti laws?;)

I work in a body shop, and a few years ago, I worked for a paint store. Most exterior paint sold by non-jobber paint supply houses are little 2 or 3 oz containers with a little touch up brush. The EPA doesn't worry about these, because the quantity is small. Interior paint will have to be sprayed - so this may require a reducer and maybe a catalyst of some sort, depending on the type of paint. Interior paint is tough because there is no good paint code to go on.

Your best bet is to find a "jobber", a place that sell paint to body shops. Get them to check a chip book and find the color, and mix the paint.

If you can just spray it straight from the container, you can buy a "prevail" spray pack - a bottle with a aerosol can attached to it.

The interior trim will have to be thoroughly cleaned with special solvents, and prepped to make the paint stick.

You may want to try to see what a body shop would charge to spray it for you.

A word to the wise, if it is the pillar or gauge mount for gauges, send it to a body shop. Having mine done right now for 30 bucks!

Went to the dealer too many times, cans labeled wrong, not enough air in them to spray, missing spray tips, DC BullS*&T!!!!

Purchased mine form dealer. Mopar spray can, 5 ounces, Part number 82201399 code LAZ Agate interior it says so on the can. Used in on my Aplillar perfect match. Used a spray on bonding agent first and everyting looks good. Teh only thing they told me it could not be shipped bu U. S. mail.

Others have taken a chip or part that was painted to a paint supplier and had some mixed for them. They also got great matches.

I ordered a 2 gauge piller from GENOS and ordered the paint from the dealer to match my interiror of my 2001, had the paint in my hand the next day. My Dad took His piller to the local paint store and had a quart made up. Never send a woman to do a Mans job!. ;)

I purchased a 13 oz spray of SEM brand flexible coating paint from a local automotive paint supply store. It comes in different shades. I have a gray interior. The paint shop matched my pillar cover by taking the factory cover and spraying a small spot on the inside of the cover and matched it exactly with the second try.

I think the can cost about 15 or 16 dollars.

FYI on DG thru Mail

The reasons the spray paint (or most any other kind of paint for that matter) cannot be legally mailed is the USPS cannot nor does not accept Dangerous Goods/Hazmat. Nearly all if not all aerosol paints are classified as either Class 2 Flammable Gas or ORM-D if is packaged is such a way and/or quantity to meet the reqs. for a Consumer Commodity.

Does everyone have agate interiors?

Thought mine was too. Come to find out mine is mist grey! As a matter of fact I have a can of Agate I can't use if anyone needs it.

Anyway the local dealer had it in stock. And this being Kalifornia I would assume we had the toughest laws on toxic stuff.

I do have to say that the paint fumes were worse than any I've used before. The match was great and seems to be holding up well straight out of the can, no primers or anything.

Thanks guys, I think I'll take the body shop advice and have a professional do it. I don't really want any problems with paint later on.

Big White Beast... ... . Am I missing something? I never heard of a MIST GRAY interior being offered as a choice when buying my truck. It was always referred to as AGATE which is what I and many others chose. I too bought a can of agate to spray my pillar mount. Looks to me like it will match unless there is two different shades of gray in my interior?

Mist gray is lighter......

Agate seems almost black when compared to mine. I have the cheapo interior for the work truck. It was on the lot that way. No carpeting, (Handy to hose it out when really dirty) had to have power locks & windows put on aftermarket with the alarm. Don't really care as I can't keep the interior clean anyway. Too much dust from job sites. I've got two extra door but I'll be damned if I can even find my back seat.

Hard to find dealers in So-Cal that put utility beds on Rams otherwise the selection might have been better. Chebies & Ferds galore:(

It has the cloth interior which looks kinda bluish gray (Dust colored now). Yours is probably agate as are most. I didn't want leather or vinyl as it gets too hot here most times and I think that's DC's cloth seat color.

Swamp rat ~ guess Mopar had it shipped by truck with other parts!!! :D

JHerrlich ~ Using spray can with bonding agent and agate paint works great and perfect match. As always though do what feel comfortable for you. Personally I just could not see paying 30 bucks to have it done with so many doing it themselves with no apparent problem. :)

Desert ram ~ Others have used the SEM brand with great success also a great interior paint I understand. Hope my Mopar is as good as it is, one can only hope the gdet something right occasionally.
