I've recently approached a local injection mold company about perhaps recreating some of the interior parts for our beloved old rattletraps. Anyone have an idea as to the number of people who would be willing to spend $100-$500 on their interior? I think I've got enough pieces to do most of them, but I really would like to see what pieces, specifically, are most in need, what colors, and if I'm really wasting my time. (Other than for my own trucks,:D) Molds are pricey, and I can't justify the cost without being able to at least break even, preferably make some money... I'm open to suggestions and ideas as well. And who has already tried this?

Ummm... ...

ALL OF THEM!

What a shame, to take pride in your ride and have that plastic crap falling apart. I have now begun to remove it. Breaks my heart, but junk IS junk. How you going to repair that stuff.

Got fed up with that stupid headliner garbage. "Glue it" they say. Or "Tear it off and reline it" ... ... ... ... ..... Stupid junk.

My interior will be naked 'fore too long.

Heck , even the stuff you find in a salvage yard breaks apart in a few years time too!!!!

I have 3 trucks in various stages of lost\broke and just plain junk. Yeah, I would spend $300-500 per truck to have some decent moldings available. Its either than or an upholstery shop and a lot more $$.

I currently don't own a first gen, but the one I did own needed plastic and I would have then and would now spend $300 is to make the inside like new.

Ugh!! I forgot about that color!! I'll need to put that down in the proposal..... Coloring is a big cost, too. Since there are number of plactic dye manufacturers, we may be trying to dye these instead of molding the color. But the base color will be the Gray, I think, as it's the most common. If cost can be met, it might can be done in more colors... ...

I'd be ok with dye. I'm not sure how well that would hold up on the door panels over time... , at least for thouse of us who are always resting are arm on the panel and open window.

Interior plastic trim...

Yes, I would be interested in the

"gray" interior plastic replacement parts. CTD sits in sun, drive with all windows open, most of the time:-laf.

Thanks hope you can pull this one off, at least my interior can look new:rolleyes:

Patrick.

I'd be in for some headliner moldings. I need the one over the windshield and over the back cab. My color is maroon, but don't really care. I have paint that is a pretty close match.

I'd be interested in the pieces also, namely the one along he top of the w/s and doors ! Grey is my color also !

Assuming they are correct and not a crappy clone of the original, Heck ya! One windshield piece from Dodge is like $180, so $500 for all... . YEAH! Oo.

Color is no issue. Paint is very much available. :D

NO!! NO crap! The factory ones were crappy enough!#@$%! I want to clone the factory ones, but use some better material and maybe add some reinforcement beams in several places, especially behind the screw holes..... I've been investigating the factory patents, and a call to Dodge/Ram hasn't been returned in over a week..... I want to cover all my bases. The price on the molds is still in process. I'd really like to do a whole kit in one mold, to keep the price of the mold down. Right now, the price of the molds is going to determine if it's possible. What about Geno's? Anyone think they might be interested in carrying some product? I hate to try to pander to JC "Screwme" Whitney... . too much... .

I'd be interested is some of the parts as well. Grey works for me as that is my interior color now but any color would do. Paint works good on the plastic but not so good on the arm rests. It gets sticky in the heat.
