Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Intermintent engine hesitation cure

I have a 1999 Dodge Cummins in the shop that has a internintent stumble or hesitation under power. It is most notacable under load but it happens under acceleration also. I remember there being a electrical connection problem with the 24v engines. . Is that the main fuel pump connection or is there another that gives problems? Is cleaning the connection the cure? Any help would be appreciated.
