It's hot, so my 1999 3/4 quadcab dodge Ram decides to act up.

I had the ac recharged (with guages), and it worked awesome. . untill I shut it off and restarted it... . blew hot air. since then, it is intermittant... . sometimes cold, sometimes hot... . I have read the threads that were recently posted, and got some ideas... . does anyone have other ideas of what my problem is?

any help is appreciated.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad connection on the high pressure switch (at least I think it was the high pressure). I noticed the AC would work when I was going at slow speeds. When going at normal highway speeds the wind would push the wiring back and the plug in connection would not make contact. I put a wire tie on the connector and has been working fine for many years.

The 99 has the clutch cycling switch which is mounted in the side of the accumulator. You can by-pass that switch and see if that is the problem. bg

Thanks for the suggestions. I am currently in fire camp in SoCal. I'll check things ut when I get home. . meanwhile I am melting. HHS,no consistent operation at all. When it does work, it doesn't last long.

HH, it sat maybe 20 min(1beer). Ran cold, shut it off at grocery store, approximately 10 miles down the road. 10 min later ran hot when I started up. Since then, no consistency, sometimes cold when started, then hot, sometimes hot when started then cold, sometimes never gets cold, sometimes changes during drive. .
