hey all,

i am struggling to find out why my truck has intermittant low power. its almost surely going to have low power then its cold out, in the low 30's, 20's, and below. by low power i mean it will no go faster than 65-70 mph and on 2 lane country roads it will loose speed uphill at 65 mph. pushing down on the accelerator and nothing happens. when it works good, pushing down on the acceleration makes the boost gauge go up and the truck starts to accelerate. i'm starting to think its a miracle when it does! all of this is empty no trailer.

i am wondering if its a fuel system issue or an internal pump issue.

i have so far changed out the fuel sending unit in the tank, the supply line to to the lift pump, and spliced in a short piece of clear plastic line to check for air. there is no longer any air. the lift pump was replaced with one from cummins as pm in august, 2005. the fuel filter ok. changed the heater o-ring as well. yet the problem persists. in the driveway i get 7-9 psi at idle and WOT. waiting on a fuel psi gauge from genos and will get numbers soon.

any more things i could check? what could be wrong inside the pump?

Cold air temps have no effect on power in my truck... once the engine is warmed up, other than running on the winter fuel which isn't really noticable.
