I am experiencing a very intermittent ABS light on my counsel display. Must be a ground does anyone know where the ground is for the ABS system or what else I should check?
There are two wires coming off the sensor, one of them is ground. The wire diagram in the FSM will show the color. It also possible the other wire has chaffed through and is intermittently shorting. I suggest you spend some time under the truck checking all the wires.
Center of rear differential also acts as speedo drive. Inspect the Front ABS cables were they come out of the unit bearings. It not uncommon for the clips to break allowing the cable to rub up against the rotor and damaging the cable
Also check for debris around the front ABS sensors. Had this problem with my 2nd gen after 4 wheeling in deep mud. A good pressure washing cleared up the ABS light.
I, too, had intermittent ABS. After checking pert near everything, I noticed a slight imperfection in a wire from the rear sensor. Feeling carefully, it turned out the wire inside the insulation was broken. Spliced in new wire and all was well again. (If you need cheaters, add an extra +2 or +3 so you can see *really* close.)
