I have this problem that started Tuesday (today is Saturday). I park my truck in my driveway which is inclined at about 15 degrees. Tuesday morning when I started the truck it was missing. I backed down the driveway (only about 35 feet) and it died when it got approximately level (back tires in the road and front in the driveway).
I tried to start it again with no luck. When I listened to the lift pump it sounded like a hesitating buzz instead of the continuous sound that I am used to. I tried to bump the starter a few times and let the system prime itself and had no luck.
I had it towed to the dealer (the know-it-all tow truck driver couldn't even start it) and they started their "diagnostics. " They had it for 4 days and couldn't find the problem. The problem only showed itself once, when I asked them to park it over night on an incline. It died and then they immediately tried to start it again. It worked fine -- not the same problem that I had. One of the techs drove it home 2 nights in a row because he wanted to take a look at it early in the morning. Nothing. There hasn't been a trouble code on the computer according to the dealer.
I have read in TDR a lot about dirty electrical connections. Could this be something along those lines? What connection could it be if it were? Any other ideas? I am the first to admit that diesel technology is something that I don't know. Assume the worst when explaining a solution. Thanks.
