Stable Lift in a huricane!

Fiberglass repair?

HI All,

I have a chance on Buying a near mint INternational Med duty flattbed truck... . I know International has a good engine with the dt466 but this particular truck has a low mileage

International 6. 9 (not even turbo'd) coupled to a 5 speed (no 2 speed rear)..... 24 K GVW... . my question is how good would this truck be at or near maz GVW?... . Should I hold out for a dt466 and a 2 sp rear?... . Any and all opinions are appreciated (I'll use the truck mainly to haul some logs and a back hoe and occasionallt some sod)... . For what it's worth the truck has air brakes... . any opinions on this vs hyd brakes?... . I think that moves it to CDL category... . aarg

Thanks.

Andrew

The truck is a dandy, the motor is, well..... they will barely pull a pickup, much less that big truck. If it was me, I would at least get the DT/DTA 360, the DT/DTA 466 is mo' "betta". With a truck of that size, the straight 5spd is also shy some gears.

I sold International medium and heavy duty trucks for years. I would not sell my customers a medium duty truck with the 6. 9 engine in it. Do not buy a truck with the 6. 9 engine... it's low mileage for a reason!

With the 6. 9 engine and a 5-speed, it'll be "gutless" empty and much less loaded. Hold out for a DT466.
