With the large number of users now (many times non-member count exceeds the member count) does a member have priority over a non-member in accessing the website? If the member is on a dialup and a non-member is on DSL (for example) does this affect accessibility priorities???

If so does this affect all sites on the internet?

Thanks in advance for further educating me, IF POSSIBLE, on the mysteries of the internet!!!!!!!!!

There is no way of prioritizing access between members and non-members. I monitor the servers on a daily basis to be sure that performance stays high for everyone accessing the site and tweak the settings as needed. One of the things that I monitor is "slow" queries which is defined as any query that takes longer than 10 seconds to execute. The average right now is 6 queries per hour taking more than 10 seconds out of 123,646 - or . 005%.

We have 2 servers with all the access happening on 1 server and the 2nd one simply backing it up on a continuous basis with the ability to switch the site over to the 2nd server in minutes if the primary server goes down. If the need arises I can spread the load between the 2 servers instead. That was the original plan but when I got the servers up and running found that each server individually had plenty of performance for our needs (traffic has doubled since that time with no significant loss of performance, btw).
