Really enjoy this sight. I am a newwer member and scan all the hits and have found alot of members useing Intials for parts of the truck and under the hood type things. What do all them mean, I was confused before being new but, I wouldnt have an idea where to guess.

Initials, acronyms, etc.

TDR Admin,

This info needs to be added to the frequently asked questions heading as this kind of post shows up every couple of weeks. ;)

AFC = aneroid fuel control (i think)

SW = star wheel

FPS = full power screw

DTT = diesel transmission technologies

TPS = throttle position sensor (auto trans. 1st Gen, except for the newer trucks which have em too, on stick transmission) (CTM =see below)

KSB = translates to cold start solenoid (as i know it and may likely be all wrong)

SS = smoke adjustment screw ( on top of AFC housing)

PW = Power Wagon (usually refers to Power Wagon or his injector design

A518 = 1st Gen truck auto trans.

46RH = 2nd Gen auto trans.

47RH = " " " "

E-Brake = exhaust brake

CTM = cost too much ;)

TC = torque converter

VB = valve body (trans. part)

O. D. = over drive

L. U. = lock up (2nd Gen. torque converter funcion)

theres a start, corrections welcome please!

TPS= Throttle Position Sensor (All trucks) :) Especially 24V's

PE= Power Edge, 24V fueling box

PE COMP= Power Edge Comp advanced fueling box for 24V's

DD= Diesel Dynamics

ETH= High Output Cummins, available only with DEE Transmission, the 6 speed

ETC= "Normal 24V engine"

Anymore?

well, if I understand right... the TPS controls the engine. The VP44 injection pump runs off of the ECM (engine control module) and the ECM gets the % of throttle from the TPS

so without TPS the VP44 is left out in the dark...

??

I think it works that way.

EDIT: shoulda said the TPS is for all 24V'ers if I understand the operation of the ECM and TPS

Well, you got the "steenkin" part right, thats for sure...

Blasted things... ... ...

Shoulda known DC would find a use for the things on the newer non-auto trucks... after all, why get rid of a perfectly pricey (CTM) part that needs replacing alot.

What WAS I thinking??? :) :p
