Just turned over 4K fun miles with my Nasty Nine... .
1. When I stomp on it from dead stop/idle I do get some smoke, but it isn't very black... . more hazy charcoal, and a plume maybe the size of my tailgate, which is gone as soon as I have boost. Approx. half the smoke than before which was pretty black. 'umember, I've got dd2's here, so I expect some. If I've got 2-3 lbs. boost and hammer it there is a very slight haze. If I've got ~7+ there is no smoke at all.
2. 1/2 truck length before boost hits is pretty accurate. The needle just flat jumps to 26-27 if I hammer it with ~4-6 lbs. Cruising at 60 (600 egt. and 10 lbs. boost) push the throttle and the boost jump is instant. The throttle response is excellent... . cruising around with O/D off any little blip of the pedal gives instant response.
I'm aware some are thinking my boost max. is "puny", but Piers set this up and says as long as I've got a clean pipe and good egt's no need to mess with it. After the install and road test I asked Piers why don't we go for 30-32 lbs. , and he just said... why? I'm not about to argue with Piers. No offense intended, Greg.
Egt's are as first reported. Can't get over 1050 pre-turbo... . might have seen an 1100 the other day, but no more than that.
Greg, if you've got a comp. and are going to bigger injectors from your DD1's you should talk to Piers about whether the Nasty is a good fit for you.
