Hi,

I just joined the TDR. I was searching for help with a problem and found this wonderfull source of information and knowledge and just had to join!!

My sig contains the stuff about my vehicles.

I recently inherited the truck from my dad, he bought it in 1997, and was the second owner. He now owns a new 2001 Garnet 3500 ext cab with the HO engine and 6 speed (mammoth truck)

I've always want to learn about diesel engines, more than just the cycle itself, but how to work on them. Look forward to learning a lot from this group, from what I've seen in the posts from the past day, there seems to be some really good discussions on here! I have been working on cars for years now, owning my Vette since I was 16, now 24 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Haven't done much to the truck yet, but plan to do so once I find a job :) Just coming out of school.

If anyone has any tips on some web pages and internet resources to read on the performance and maintainance aspects of the Cummins engine, I would love to read them!

bowens, let me be the first to say welcome :D

Geeeze, your Dad GAVE you a Cummins?

Does he want to adopt another son? :D

But seriously folks... ... ... . you will learn alot more from this site than your wallet will allow. Especially if you fall prey to the dreaded BOMBitis.

Hi Brady,

Welcome aboard. Sorry, I can't help you with a 12 valve truck but I know there are plenty of guys on the 12 valve forum that can.

Hehe :D Yeah I know how the BOMBing bug can get you. I started out rebuilding the motor in my Vette to be an original stock rebuild, and you see what happened. Lots of polishing and $5k later, I have what I have now :) And I don't see this truck being any different!!!!

Welcome to the TDR! :D

One thing I've noticed about BOMBing (don't know whether it's good or bad) - my wife is now on a first name basis with every UPS driver in Houston! ;)

Welcome to the big show, Taz. Isn't it great to have a home away from home that you can get to from your own home? hehe

Mrs Doc says I 'm never home, because when I am at home, I'm here. Did you figure any of that out yet?

Doc

Thank God Another 12v joins the scene!!!!!!!!!!! I was beginning to think with all brand new 24v's we were a dying breed!! Welcome aboard!!

welcome from san jose, calif Taz, all the guys on here are great and ready to show you how to spend your cash lololo I had a 12 valve and believe me they are easier and cheaper to bomb, I do believe you ought to get to know a local truck garage, pic there brains for awhile if you feel that they are compitent oops, then ask if they can tweek your pump see what they say,I had mine done on my 90 after about 75 k mi. and it ran great

good luck, jdm joe

Thanks for the hello. There aren't any truck places around here. Even if they were I prefer doing it myself and having a learning experience while I'm at it :)

Same way I did with my car, I now can rebuild automatic transmission's :)
