Inverter

I've seen some pic's of laptops, mobile offices, etc. in our RAMs and am curious about which size/brand inverters may be in use.



I have one of those jobs that makes mobile computing a necessity. Usually the pc/printer/cellular batteries are sufficient but one never knows.



With two batteries in the truck and two group 27's in the TT I could easily tap into all that stored power with an efficient inverter.



Also been toying with the idea of a separate group 27 with a small solar charger for the office stuff.



Your comments would be appreciated.

AN inverter that is like 400 watts or less is the kind that can be used in the cig. lighter plug. otherwise the 700+ sizes need to be connected directly to the battery. I use the 400 for my laptop and it has plenty of power for that.

I got mine at a T/A truck stop it is a red casing (can't recall name)

All our service trucks have Pro-Watt 250's direct wired and power trouble lights, laptops, printers, chargers for other battery powered equipment. Really good thing to have in the camper too, run that soldering iron!!!



I saw in the latest Radioshack flier a 400Watt inverter for about $169 Cdn. So about $100 US should get a pretty good one.

Harbor Freight & Northern Hydralic both sell them I don't have there wed address's but you can search & get them. I bought one to run my Dremel on service calls it's a 300 watt.

Camping World has them also. A small 150 watt inverter is suffecient for a laptop computer. Get more if you might want to add more stuff. We have a 1000 watt in our camper, which draws 100 amps at full load. I wouldn't bother with an extra battery / solar panel; just run it off the truck power.
