Its time to announce the annual 1st Gen meet in Iowa for 2016. The date is Saturday June, 11 2016. That way there is a weekend in between Memorial Day weekend and our event. As always some of the group will be showing up Friday sometime, and then the main event will be all day Saturday starting at about 830am for breakfast in Creston Iowa at the Family Resturuant. After breakfast we will travel back out to the farm and enjoy a day of talking about trucks, looking at trucks, adjusting and repairing trucks, and test driving trucks. As always the shop will be open and we can do a bit of anything that needs to be done. The shop is large and climate controlled so regaurdless of the weather, a good time should be had by all. We will have a potluck lunch and dinner here on the farm. Meat will be supplied, but everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish, dessert, snacks, drinks, etc to share with everyone. This year I will also put out a basket for anyone that wishes to donate to help with some of the expensis on our part. This is a family event, if you have kids, please feel free to bring them, your wife(girlfiend, boyfriend, dad, granddad, whoever) is welcome too. We have a swingset, my girls will be here, and they will have a good time. Please note that in correlation with the fact that this is a family event, consumption of alcohol is fine and byob, please keep it in check, must be legal age to partake. Anything along those lines that is not legal will not be tolerated, please don't bring extra unnecessary liability to my place. Camping is welcomed here, tents, campers, the cab or bed of your truck, its all good. There is a bathroom in the shop that will be accessable all weekend. Sunday typically anyone that camped will roll out and head home.

The Super 8 motel in Creston Iowa is the closest, best place to stay, get your reservations early. 641-782-6541

Everyone is welcome, all ages groups, from children, teenagers, 20s, 30s, and on up, we typically have a few from each group. Also, don't worry if your truck isn't a show truck, isn't a hot rod, or the body panels aren't all the same color. These trucks are 20+years old, they've been worked hard, beat and put away wet. There will likely be some real nice survivors, maybe a restored one or two, and then some of varying conditions. Some will be stock, some will be twin turbo, tire smoking monsters. You ride just needs to be a square body Dodge, or have a 12 valve conversion.

Get your rides put together, get your vacation time spoken for, your motel room reserved and make your travel plans. Kick the tires, fill the fuel tank and come on out. Typically we get between 12-15 trucks on average and bout twice that number in people.

This more or less taking the place of SOP ?

This was never meant to replace SOP, it was more the spring addition of SOP, further west. I fashioned it pretty much exactly the way SOP was done, they had a perfect pattern and I copied. I typically couldn't make it to SOP because it was usually right in the middle of my busy harvest season, so I wanted a reason for my first gen friends to get together in the early summer. I was able to attend 3 or 4 of the 11 years, I'm a bit sad that it is no more. SOP is no longer because one of the originators sold the farm and moved to Michigan and the other sponsor doesn't have an area to put it on. There will likely be a fall meet again this year, near St Louis, very similar to this.

Many of the same core group go to both these events. Its a good time.

You know I will be there this year.

With the rear air ride install making me miss last year. It will be a smoother ride out this year. :D

To add to Michael's post. His event provided owners farther west a chance to attend a 1st gen event. With it being 400 miles further west of my location. It is easyer for some people to make it to that event. Planning a long drive takes time. To some the time isn't the problem. The expense of a couple of 1k round trips is a problem. Remember the reason for these events is to meet new people and teach newer owners the ins and outs of 1st gen ownership and repairing them. To that end both events have a good track record. Like Michael stated. If I had a place to hold the event it would still be going.
