I just met with my local SNAP-ON trucktools man. I wanted to get a tool for the IP solenoid. Has anyone used a 15/16 crowsfoot, (3/8) drive hole to remove a IP solenoid? I've read and saved other posts, (cutting and that stuff:eek:) I'm searching for the easiest way to replace, just in case I have to do it while traveling:-laf. Have not had any issues with this part, but have a new spare from a VW dealer, (Bosch part #0-330-001-040), will that number work from any of y'alls expience? I learn every time I log on this site, what a 'gearheads' dream: TDR Oo.

Thanks in advance for the replies, Patrick.

I had mine off 3 times in 10 minutes the other day! #@$%! I just pull the 3 bolts that hold the throttle cable bracket, set it down out of the way. Then I pull the wires, and loosen the top nut with a 5/16 wrench. (so the spade terminal spins) Then I use a regular 15/16 wrench to pull it out. I'm lucky though, mine stops right where the wrench fits, and I can turn it just enough for another bite. A stubby works good too. There is an o-ring for a seal, so it doesn't have to be super tight. ;)

my bracket on the end is cut off too.

Sorry, I gave you . 04 worth!:-laf

For sure have to cut or break off the plate bracket on the back of the VE, it makes solenoid R&R easier.

Changing that thing on the road is something I don't want to do, I carry a spare though...
