Hi, I posted in alternative fuesl with no response. I am running waste veg oil and wish to improve the idle which is rough. (I think IP timing may help this situation, truck idles fine on diesel) Does anyone have any ideas about whether I would want to retard or advance IP timing (for veg) and also, do most dodge dealerships have the right equipment to properly time a IP? Any advice? Thanks!

Idle

James, mine doesn't idle rough, just a little lower than with diesel, you could just turn it up to where it was, just a thought, Alex

adjusted idle up already, and my feeling is that the IP could stand a timing change. Idle is rough under grease, everything nice and hot going in, idles fine on diesel, but when I switch to grease, idle surges and is rough. Our oil is beautiful stuff, highly filtered and clean, just dont know what's going on . . any other toughts? Thanks!

I'm not what you would call a good mechanic, but I find the best oil is at the high end japanese or chinese places and high end seafood, I got a bad batch before and it made it idle rougher than normal. When you say your oil is clean, do you mean when you filter it or before you filter it. The oil I get is so clean it looks like it has barely been used. Alex

No, I mean that it is highly filtered by me and top quality stuff. Still a mystery. We run this in VW tdi's with no problems

Does it run okay on the wvo (other than the rough idle)? Is it a possible fuel delivery (pressure) issue that only shows up when you are not pressing the go pedal?
