VERY Scary Front End!!!

My son has an ipod mini which needs the battery replaced... . only holds a charge for 2 hours. I've checked the ipod for oil, coolant & fuel pressure... . seems as though it is the battery :-laf Anyway, I understand you can send these back to Apple and they send a new/replacement one. He doesn't want to do this as he'll lose his 800+ songs  My Sony Walkman never heard such a thing  He has shown me a website that will either change the battery for us or send us the "kit" to do it ourselves. Anyone go this route? I don't mind trying it, just not too sure of the website/company I'm giving my credit card to. The website is www.pdasmart.com. Any other companies out there I can try? Any input will be appreciated by all involved. Thanks in advance.

If he uses Itunes or one of the other song management softwares, all his songs should be on the computer. He'd have to download them again, but at least he won't lose them. If they're not on the computer, he should transfer them over before the battery change, just in case. Good luck!

this is one of the main reasons I wont buy an iPod, leave it to Apple and thier retarded use of non-off the shelf parts. ANd on top of that, not being a user replaceable part is just down right wrong.

Unless he deleted all his music off his computer after uploading to the ipod, it should all still be there and organized using itunes. I've reloaded mine serveral times (7 gb) and it only takes about 20 minutes, and is organized just the way it was before. http://www.ilounge.com/ has a bunch of info on battery changes.

Ok,

Well... of his 800 songs. . a good 300 of them were deleted from the computer when it got swiped from spyware... Is there a way to take the songs that we lost in that process and put them back on the computer from the iPod?

Check out Anapod . I hear you can download the songs off the Ipod back to your computer. I hear you can even convert them to MP3's. I plan to install it when I get around to it.

There should be a sync tool in iTunes; I know there is in Windows Media. Should be able to hook the iPod to the computer and have existing files go either way.

I have a Creative Zen Sleek 20 gig and like it. The only bad thing is there are no "aftermarket" parts for it; no car plugs, cases etc. It is easy to use, sounds great, has decent battery life. Now the Zen Sleek Photo is cheaper than the Zen Sleek was 6 months ago!

You need special software to upload songs off the ipod.

The battery in my ipod nano is starting to get show signs of age. Glad to see this thread. Overall I love my nano. perfect for driving, snowmachining, flying ect. And they are tougher than you'd think they are.

Anapod will do it, no problem. Itunes sucks (actually did not work well with my Ipod) and I got Anapod. It has no problems coping to/from the Ipod.
