I have a 2003 with AM/FM/CD with steering wheel controls and Infinity Speaker System. Is there any way to directly connect a iPOD to that radio ?

Thanks

The easy way but not really the best is to find a car ipod dock that has an fm modulator built in, I am pretty sure that someone makes one, this would allow you to dock the ipod, then tune your stereo to an FM station usually lower frequency like 88. 5 or something and hear the ipod, should work pretty good and if you get a good one it should also charge your ipod. The more involved way is to change out your headunit to an aftermarket one, alot of the new headunits have ipod dock capability, so you buy the radio, the ipod dock for it, then you run the wire and have a dock that interfaces with the headunit, some allow you to control the ipod from the headunit, my partner has the pioneer navigation head unit with an ipod dock, backup camera, bluetooth, and XM, everything is controlled on the touchscreen, or with the remote. Thats how it is done.

I got an axxess (sp?) from ebay a couple of years ago that works great. You have to pull the stereo out and the unit plugs into where the cd changer does. It works great. Keeps the battery charged and pauses the ipod when stereo turned off or turned to radio. I believe that Circuit City also sells them.

I bought a Mopar IPod interface module from the dealer. I connects into the wire harness on the back of the radio. The IPod connects with a unique cable that comes with it.

I bought a little box that plugs into the head unit and has a cord for the ipod that I routed to the armrest. It stays in there and stays charged. It turns on and with the key and I can skip around with the steering wheel buttons.

I tried an FM modulator and the sound just totally sucked. This is hard-wired and much better.

What is a "head unit" ???

i have the factory mopar unit however it only works for mthe rb1 nav radio you can use your steering wheel controls it works just like an interface very pleased with it

Mine is just a single CD AM/FM unit but the box plugs into the back of it and uses the AUX button for iPod

This isn't the same one I have, but very similar. click here

I have a problem because I have the XM box plugged into the port on the back of my RBQ (6 disc in dash), so I can't utilize most iPod adapters. I've looked into the XIA products by Axxess, but I don't know anybody who is using it, so I don't know if it's 100% workable. The way I understand it I can hookup both my XM and iPod to this device.

You can buy one at the dealer that will work with the RBQ six disk changer and the Satellite radio. I just bought one and am working on installing it. I can post the part number if you want.

I ppurchased the factory ipod controler. Not too happy with it, Not realy seems to be user friendly ( Or I just havent figured it out yet) and every time i now switch from the sirius to am/fm I loose all my sirius pre sets. !!?? very frustrating!

B-Rock. . do you still have the Ipod adapter/ Do you know the factory part# for it? Did you ever get used to it or is it still difficult to use?

I still have it. I got a mount for my iPhone and placed it just to the right of the instrument pannel, left of the air vent. I mostly use it to charge my iPhone. But have got used to the way it works.

The timing of this post was excellent. I have the single CD AM/FM no steering wheel control factory unit and was going to swap it out with a Sony XPlod unit. I like the factory unit. Does anyone have this radio and a iPod interface??? Forgot to add the radio is an RBK.

The problem we have here is the 3rd gen had 2 different computer systems. . 2003-2005 was can bus and 2006 to 2008 is CAN bus so there are 2 different ipod kits. The older kits are still available and seem to work well/better. When I search the new p/n for the can bus systems, it says the part is discontinued. If you look on ebay for seller MrCd1, he sells mopar stuff and has the pci bus based systems for your 03. I think the kit spans 03 to 07 for that model. MrCD does not sell the kit for my 06 because he says they discontinued it.

I checked out the PIE website and then looked at Crutchfield.com. I am on the fence on this one. I was looking at a Sony GT630UI because it has an aux and usb hookup right on the face. I also like that I change the faceplate color to green. I don't know. I like the big controls of the RBK.
