CHeck out this link. They have an adaptor that hooks into the CD changer connector that is suppose to be on the back of Dodge radios from mid 90's and on. Has anyone installed this device or a CD changer to the OEM radio trying to figure out if we have the CD changer adaptor; if so this should work great. Might also be able to plug in multiple devices; e. g. satillite radio?

You can buy an aftermarket iPod ready radio for that kind of money. Pioneer and Alpine have versions. One problem with OEM is that basic radios only have a simple number display so you can't see playlists, artists, albums, etc (I think they're just numbered). I know the Chrysler iPod module (available at your local Chrysler parts counter, don't know who actually makes it) will crash the iPod.

The Chrysler CD connector is really a little computer network so each module has an IN and OUT so you can chain a bunch of devices together. You can also get a simple AUX IN so you can plug any MP3 player or whatever.

Crutchfield has lots of car/truck audio stuff too.

THanks good point on the cost; maybe new radio is the way to go. I do have steering wheel controls and would hate to loose them. Are you aware of any radio that lets you keep the steering wheel controls?

I am pretty sure that there are aftermarket that allow you to keep your stock steering wheel controls. I am not suggesting that you buy from crutchfield, but I bet if you call them and ask their tech support if there is a stereo out there that does what you are looking for, they would know.

I use one of two ways, both of which are cheaper. The older trucks (my 01) have a cassette player and I use an adapter that goes in there. Can buy it most places for about $10. It will plug into anything with a headphone jack. Also, I bought an FM adapter like the $69 one in your link. I got it at Wally World for, I think, $33. I also got the 12 volt plug at the same time. The FM adapter will run on a battery, but if yo get the matching 12 volt, it will plug into that and you'll never have to worry about batteries. If I remember correctly, the price of both was less than the price of just the transmitter in your link.

Ic is right but the signal loss and constant adjustment of the transmitter to get a clear signal drove me nutty. I DID however find that unscrewing the antenna made it come in clearer. Why?? Probably the antenna was not pulling in faded radio but the siganal was close for the antennaless radio to grab.

I need to look into this alpine option. It looks pretty small for the size of the opening that I have. I have the "high end" OEM radio so it has an equalizer and other accessories so the overall size of the radio looks to be a lot larger than this radio

Yes it is a single Din radio and what yours is would be a "Double Din" However If you get the install kit from say a place like drutchfield and the radio from a place online it will look slick as later you have an option to mount a performance box display underneath the radio or a set of aux switches etc.

Heres something you can do if you have a Comp, good place to kinda hide it. To bad my Deck died a month ago :( was 7 years old... . guess it was time.

Wiring in the iPod sounds 10x better than using an FM transmitter or cassette adaptor. Generally you need an faceplate adaptor to fill in the hole, a wiring harness so it just plugs right in, a steering wheel control module to control the deck from the wheel.

That Alpine deck (I have last year's version) doesn't have a CD player if that matters to you.

Pioneer (and others) make a "double DIN" (double height) radios for GM and Chrysler vehicles.
