I just towed a heavy built car trailer with 4 quads on it for about 500 miles and got about 12 mpg. The trailer with quads weighed about 6500 lbs. I think you are getting great mileage. I traveled over a few mountain passes and was usually between 60 and 65 mph.
yep, i always hand calculate, and cram every last drop in until no foam just fuel spilling out. I fill up and reset the trip meter before pulling out. I used Lucas lube in it which is the first time i have used that stuff. dont know if it helped of not, i didnt even measure it... I just dumped some in at each fill up.
on the way up (empty) i ran the PM3 comp on level 7 and then settled on level 5 about half way there. it was too hard to keep a steady pace with that much fueling. it would slow down, i would add pedal and the next thing i knew i was running 80.
on the trip back i started on level 5 and droped down to level 4, that helped me keep a constant speed better. the thing is real hyper on the pedal when cranked in the upper levels, i couldnt keep the boost at a nice level spot. it was up and down, up and down.
the truck had a "sweet" spot at about 71mph it would free up and seemed to run real nice at that speed. that's about 2200rpm's, and with the trailer at that speed i ran 18-19lbs of boost and 800-900 on the EGT's. empty is about 3PSI and 500* @ 75mph.
keep in mind guys i have PDR's street/strip twins, 5" exhaust, and a ton of fueling at hand. the truck hardly labored to get to speed and keep it. i just labored to keep the speed level
