I too am looking into getting guages, and by talking to a friend of mine at a local dealer, he's told me that the lift pumps for the 3rd gens have 170 of em on order across the country, so there are obviously a few problems out there... Makes me wanna get the FP guage even if it is stock.

Scott

the lift pump is not located in the tank, only the 05's are located in the tank... Im actually unsure of where the 04. 5 is located. . but Im pretty sure only the 05's have the in tank pump.

on the 03 to 04. 5 trucks the lift pump is on the back of the fuel filter housing on the engine... it is black with 2 wire plug and a fuel line running in to it.

i put a FP gauge on mine, only because i needed something to fill the 3rd hole in the cubby mount. jim

Likewise. I usuallly see 7-8 LBS pressure. Less than 6 is in the red so I guess I'm supposed to do something if that happens.

just curious where you tapped in your fuel pressure gauge. maybe mine is low because it is in the geno's steel filter housing cover.

thanks

That's exactly the way mine was done. I am using a DiPricol gauge and it consistantly reads 7-8 LBS.

thanks george,

that makes me feel better, however i have never seen mine over 8. it seems to be somewhat temperature related, colder means lower pressure. when we had the real cold weather a while back, it was starting at 3-1/2 after sitting outside all day.

the truck runs fine, so i am not too concerned... . yet.

... I have a 3rd Gen on order and will be adding gauges when it arrives. I will definitely be putting a boost/egt gauge in, but I wonder if I need a FP gauge?...

Well, I've decided to add this to my new 2005. I'm not sure it is all that necessary, but it will fill out my two hole mount, along with a Boost/EGT gauge. Thanks for the inputs... ;)
