I was reading diesel power mag and it had some recipes for making power in the third gens. One of the questions I had is the mag is saying that you need a pressure box like TS or Edge plus a programmer to break the 450 to 500 hp mark. I have the smarty revo question being does the ability to increase rail pressure with the smarty enough or is a pressure box really needed?

A popular stack seems to be the Edge "EZ" Smarty combo. Try turning up the rp with the Smarty Revo and see how it goes for you before buying more parts. The question is if higher rp is better atomization/mpg/perormance how high is too high for the injectors. With extra filtration is a Smarty setting of rp3 safe to daily drive with? The other question I have is can the stainless body injectors safely handle more rp?

Pressure is a double-edged sword. There is power in RP for a CR, but at a cost in durability. Occasional use of pressure while at the track or dyno is one thing, but sustained use begs premature fuel system component failure.
Peak pressure is only part of the story; the pressure spike when you let off the throttle from a high-pressure scenario (such as WOT) is huge, and damaging. You won't see it on the gauge, but it's there. Keep your LV (relief valve) in the system.

I recommend better fuel filtration regardless of mods or intended use.

Stainless injector bodies are more robust, but pressure can damage other components.

What mods have you done? How do you use the truck? How much money are you willing to spend? How important are reliability and longevity compared to power/performance?

X2, Nothing wrong with pressure,it's extreme and excessive pressure that will Damage component's.
