Sorry, no US GEAR.
ONLY GearVendors will do for me.
GearVendors is the softist shift out there. Touch the floor-under any load, slight thump, and off you go. I have shifted at 110mph, full throdel, and felt a smoth gear-change. trans is rated for 10K rpm(drive train) and 30K CGVW. It is the size of a bread box and draws next to 0 hp.
I have 40K miles on my GV and have had not one problem. This product is used by Freightliner and Volvo.
If you want Cons. Here they are.
1. GV- don't use for down-shift breaking. (Click into normal mode for this)
2. GV- don't click out of gear while coasting or breaking. (big thump)"OUCH!"
3. GV- don't expect to gain milage unless you are towing a load. (unloaded has done nothing for milage 4ME)
4. expect that your truck will need a new speedo and Z rated tires. (3. 54 will do 130+mph)
1. US G- Harsh shifting. (Clutch pad wear/ U-Joint abuse. and general drive train and in cab abuse. )
2. same cost as GV
3. slight drag on drive train.
NOTE*
Both units are to be turned off before shifting into 4x4.

Automatics only please,
I know they are slicker than goose poop on a glass door knob with a stick.

looking for pros and cons: ie: pulling a grade and shifting aux. I understand that if you dont want to step out and pick up your drive shaft that you shift transmission into neutral then shift aux. Is this true??. If you do this why would you need the aux transmission as by the tine this was accomplisd you would aready have lost another gear any way.

Have 99 4x4 auto with US Gear underdrive. Real strong unit. If you shift with transmission unlocked;slight driveline shock. To shift:Apply pressure to throttle, push button,it will shift when you ease the throllle. Love the unit the 4. 44 low range makes my truck a hero;and very strong at a stoplight1 If you tow I think you will love it; sweet spot at 60mph in low. Good Luck.

Mr. B, you can't use an exhaust brake with the Gear Vendors OD unit. In addition, they don't offer an underdrive version.

I don't dispute the underdrive.
For my needs extra gear is all I want.
As for the Exhaust breaks, can't you just step off the switch and use the normal trans function? I haven't found any situation yet that made me feel I need a exhaust break. I just shift back to (2) or (1) on the column, and this helps the truck slow down. Side Note* I would like to have a exhaust break for the extra noise and the fun of having a BIG-RIG kinda truck.
The GearVendors shifts a-lot smoother and would not kick as bad on soft soils and cause a traction loss. What good is it to clime a grade if you just spin the tires.
My . 02cents for my thoughts.

Mr. B, I believe (if I heard Andy Perreault correctly) you cannot use an exhaust brake WHILE the Gear Vendors OD unit is ENGAGED.

I have the 3. 54 axle ratio, running 285/75/16 tires (33" dia. ), I was considering the addition of a US Gear UNDERdrive unit, intending to engage it around town (i. e. , NOT splitting every gear)... going back to OE gearing once on the highway.
