Heads up! Telemarketers scam

This message will no doubt get moved but I wanted plently of people to see it and respond.

Just wanted to know if anyone else felt this way:

I was just wondering why I paid $35 to join a club that sends out FOUR magazines and has a website that was only going to start putting advertisement bars on the bottom of the viewing area. It's one thing to have pop-up windows (which shouldn't be allowed either) but putting a banner across the bottom of the screen that restricts viewing area and can't even be closed is totally absurd and a slap in the face to all members. With the thousands of members of the TDR, you would think that you guys could keep from putting non-removeable ad bars on our screens especially those of which are not even diesel related.

This ad bar at the bottom wasn't here when I registered and it's seems rude and unfair to start putting stuff like this on OUR site.

A couple of things. First we don't have any pop up ads. You probably have a spybot on your pc that was put there by another site. Go to http://www.adaware.com and download ad aware and do a scan and it will find all the spybots on your pc and allow you to delete them. Second the reason you are getting the ad across the bottom is because you are accessing the site from one of the alternative addresses. Go to the site at https://www.turbodieselregister.com (which is the true address for the site) and you won't get that ad at the bottom of the page.

And here I thought the TDR was a fantastic deal even before they ever had a website! [i. e. , same price, same number of TDR issues per year]

Oh well, I guess I'm easy to please. :D

i run my moniter at 1600x1200 resolution. i can see lots of text on the screen :D:D:D [and i am paying the $43. 00 plus exchange to canadian funds]

i joined for the forums, and the magazine is an extra bonus :-laf

Ad aware link

Hey Steve,

How about the correct link for the Ad Aware software?? The info on the page the above link goes to says they're not the one.

Yeah. All these years, and the magazine keeps getting thicker and thicker, but the price has never gone up once!

Robert, Robin, Steve, et al, keep up the good work.

I think the TDR is well worth the investment. With the lack of knowledgeable mechanics willing to work on our trucks (at least locally- esp here in the swamp), the knowledge I have gained has been invaluable. Not to mention discounts, group purchases, etc. If it was just the magazine, I might hesitate, but throw in the website, and it is worth it. I have saved enough money in labor alone to pay a lifetime of memberships, not to mention repairs that local yokal mechanics recommended that wouldnt have fixed the problem.

Keep up the good work, all of you- moderators, the Pattons, contributing magazine writers, and everyone else.

Daniel

I agree that the TDR is worth the $35, but do they really have to send out renewal reminders 5 months before it expires?
