My work may be acquiring a 99 3500 CTD auto that is equipped with an ATS "Pro Torque 2000" propane system. This includes a 65 gallon tank mounted in the bed. None of us knows squat about this system. I have determined that the retail cost for this thing was around $2k... . and it may offer up to 100 more hp. Thats ALL I know about it. The fact this thing is on the rig is making some folks at the office nervous ("... is it safe... what's it for... "). We have no idea who installed it or if it was installed correctly, but can acquire the truck very very cheaply. I am telling them (maybe begging is a better word) to just DO it and worry about it later. Any comments on this system???? Any info appreciated... ... ...

Torque Pro 2000

Dave, The Torque Pro 2000 is a propane injection system. It will give you more power as it adds propane to the air flow and then propane gives an increase in total BTUs.

You might do a search on this forum bu I haven´t heard of too many folks using this system. There are other (cheaper) propane injection systems out there.

I´ve been considering going to a propane injection system and the ATS Torque Pro 2000 is one I´m looking at. Really don´t know how it compares to the others though. It looks like a quality system from what I can find out.

Good luck with it and let us know how it works. You might contact ATS for more info on th operation of it.

Mike,

You might want to reconsider. The track record of HO's on propane, because of their higher compression ratio, isn't good! The head gasket tends to let you know about the engine's displeasure with this approach. :(

ATS Propane

ATS propane systems have been around a long time. They are a good system and cost around $1000. 00. They are made in Salt Lake City Utah, and were originally designed for Ford trucks. . Propane is "OK" if used properly, not ABUSED. Their system usually comes with restricted orifices, so as not to put too much in. I suspect the guy that had the truck, probably wanted something more for towing not Hot Rodding. You can call "Steve" at ATS, for any questions or concerns, and will help you make sure the system is all together or not. Here's a link:
