Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Is black smoke normal on startup?

I have noticed that on startup, seems like a lot. Not sure if it is normal or not.

Your sig says stock so I'd say just a puff then clear up as the idle picks up. If you've got alot of lingering smoke you may have an injector hanging up. In that case, check your oil level.

will it burn oil if a injector is hanging up?

It will fill the oil pan with fuel over time.

That doesn't seem right. Don't know what the problem is , but I'ed get it checked out if I were you.

Mine puts out a "little" white smoke if it's really cold and not plugged in... other than that. . none.

A puff of black on startup (warm day) is normal because you have a healthy shot of fuel but no boost yet, so it's running overfueled at the time of initial ignition.

My truck puffs smoke every time. I drive class 8 trucks and they do the same thing. I would say it is very normal.
