Anyone wanna sell their 03-04 3500 6 speed?

My wait is over!

The reason I ask is because I used the power wire for getting power to my Westach gauge. When I turn the truck off, the EGT part of the gauge acts like it is still powered and reading the EGT's. If the lighter is always powered, then my gauge is always powered and I want to switch the power to a power source that is turned on and off with the ignition.

My [diPricol] EGT gauge always worked with the power off, and it was on switched power. It sure never dropped to zero when I turned off the truck. I'm thinking the gauge uses and electromechanical doodad that doesn't require power from the battery to operate, unless you want the lights on or something. :)

The temperature readout on the Westach EGT gauge gets its power directly from the Type K chromel/alumel thermocouple. It doesn't depend on external battery power to show a reading. It is normal for the EGT gauge to continue to read when the ignition is shut off.

On my truck, the cigarette lighter is switched from the ignition, but the adjacent 12VDC power socket is always hot.

I like the fact that it is always powered. My cell phone in always plugged in and it works great for me!

Thanks Guys.

PBJ, do you have your cell phone plugged into the power outlet or the cigarette lighter? I was confused with which one your using...

I keep my radar detector plugged into the cigarette lighter because it's switched. Keeps me from forgetting to turn it on.

My cell phone charger is plugged into the dash power outlet. The phone charges whether the truck is running or not.

When I use my laptop (mostly for GPS tracking), it plugs into the one in the center armrest. It's always hot, so the laptop doesn't die.

Exact same usage here, except I have a splitter on the one for 2 cell phone chargers... . (and the computer actually is plugged into an inverter that is in the console)
