Hey guys. I learned alot from this post too. I'm glad so many replies. I have been using PENNZOIL which I have always believed was made from the best crude and it very easy to get. I think my next change will be to Delo 400. I'm old but i'm not completely set in my ways, and I can be convinced about better things. I'm glad I joined the TDR.

Bill,

It's hard to go wrong running the Delo 400. IMO it is the best conventional oil available. If you want to run a supposedly better oil (just kidding, no doubt synthetics are better) you will have to switch to a synthetic. I'm sure some of the Amsoil guys will pipe up here. For me the added cost of synthetics, and my unwillingness to try and run extended drain intervals, doesn't make them an option for me. If you are ok with extended drains, to offset the initial cost of the oil and you truck is broken in (~20,000 miles) you may want to consider a synthetic oil. JMHO.

Delo 400 is plenty good for me.

I changed my oil this morning. I used a Fram oil filter and DELO. Oil pressure is up about 5 psi, and pressure is more constant now, not pulsing #ad
. Thanks for the advice. #ad
It's Delo for me from here on out!

BTW: My filter was not hard to change at all. I removed the breather tube, and used a regular filter wrench to remove the filter.

Anyone know of a different style of drain plug? That one will soak you with oil as soon as it breaks loose #ad
!

Gizmo 007,
Caution on using the Fram oil filter! The paper that is used in them has been known to break-up and plug oil passages in the Cummins applicaation.

By all means don't use anything but mo par if you want your warranty,so I've been told. as far as drain plug goes,I got the one finger from geno's it is realy nice to be able to reach under there and in 1/2 a second and out it comes and no hoses or wrenches. you gotta check it out. good luck,JDM JOE

I agree with the warning: Stay away from Fram filters. Fleetguard, Amsoil, and Wix seem to be among the top filters of choice to use.

Oh, sorry. Didn't know Fram could come apart #ad
. Maybe It'll make it 5,000 miles, I'll rechange oil then.

I normally use Baldwin HD filters, but they changed stock numbers, and nobody around here has them, they are all on back order. I guess Baldwin is good, I use them on my Kenworth and motorhome. have for 5 years #ad
. No problems yet. Thanks a million #ad
