YUP moved, and changed my Amateur Radio callsign to match the new callsign district I'm now in here in beautiful eastern Oregon - for the few interested, both my new and old homes are listed in the photo website pointed to in my sig below... Sure do love it here, but the move was pure hell!

Nice looking house Gary & great view. You probably made a killing on your Calif. home, bought the Oregon home & had lots of $$$ left over.

One of the guys I work with sold a duplex in southern Cal. came up here bought 25 acres & built a 2000 sq ft house & had $$$ left.

When we first got here, I managed to wipe out cable TV in 3 towns with my Amateur radio setup - got acquainted with about 1000 local citizens REAL fast!



(We hope to have all our broken windows replaced in another week, and the recovered bricks used will help make a dandy storage shed)



BUT, the local cable outfit - owned by another Amateur radio operator, finally found the problem with THEIR system, and no more problems - during the tests we did as I assisted them in finding the failure point in their system, I joking suggested they might consider paying us to leave the area - they responded that the general opinion of their customers was that California had already paid us to leave THAT state...



We have found that all locals wave as they go past our place - but some strange local birth defect or deformity seems to have left everyone here with a stiff middle finger...

In another thread, he said that he was leaving the CTD in the garage and running around in a (shudder) ordinary CAR!!!



A few years ago when my wife went off the deep end and bought a Cadilac (two years old), I kept waiting and waiting for it to accumulate enough miles to require service, so I would have an excuse to look under the hood. Well after a full year, I decided to go ahead and do an oil and filter change----after all it had accumulated 1,700 miles in that year, while the Ram had accumulated 20,000 miles. Her car gets used only if I am not going; if I go, the CTD goes.

Same on you Gary for the disgrace you have brought on the group.

Of course, GFrance can't toss any stones here either; rumor has it his CTD spends most of its time pouting while he runs around with another. :-laf

WELL, really guys, HONEST, I *would* drive the Dodge more, but this stupid garage in the new place has 2 *separate* roll-up garage doors instead of a single larger one - this means each opening is rather SMALL, and the only way I can get the truck inside is to fold both mirrors in, drive CAREFULLY inside with about 2 inches to spare on either side!



(It's only a matter of TIME before one fender or another gets up close and PERSONAL with the door frame... )



Once inside, there is the same 2 inches between the front grill and the workbench, and at the rear between the bumper and the closed door - no way to even leave the trailer tow hitch in place... Then, the procedure must be reversed to get the truck OUT - carefully back out, get outta the truck to swing the mirrors back out, and then get back in and drive off...



A royal pain!



PLUS, all driving here is such a short distance, that mighty Cummins can't ever get up to full temperature - and frequently driving short distances that way is hard on and engine and the oil...



SOOoo - so far, I drive it about once a week, making certain to go far enough and enough places to get it fully warmed up - but it ain't easy~



Consequently, it's LOTS easier to use my wife's smaller and faster heating Ford Escape for the short-haul stuff...



I just hope the 80+ gallons of diesel fuel on board the Dodge doesn't turn sour from old age before it gets used up!
