I have a 99 with 275's and I just noticed today while going down the interstate running 70-72mph with gross weight around 16,000 that when I would hammer it, it would go for a split second then you could just feel it flatten out and it would hardly gain any speed at all. I assume this is because it is defueling because it see's to high of boost. it would go up around 27psi but it just wasn't doing much. If someone could tell me if I am right I would appreciate it.

thanks,

Cory

Yah emerson is right edge ez is the way to go advance timing no wire tap boost fooler you will like the results

Ez

Here's the deal, before I had the engine rebuilt it had an older style edge box (it had one button and 3 lights on it). This box did tap into the pump wire and I had nothing but problems with it, how does this box hook up? and is this box going to be hard on the injection pump? Also, If you guys have had this box is it reliable?

What I would really like to do is just find some sort of boost fooler that works. I say that works because, I first tried an a. d. ds device (anti defueling device) and this thing didn't work plus it would sometimes cause a moment of no power when I would take off.

Any info would be helpfull,

thanks,

Cory

If you don't have a fooler it defueling for sure. I went through that with mine when it was new. My 99 has a very early set of 275's so early that back then boost foolers where a thing of the future. Talk to Piers if you do not want a box but just a fooler. 27lbs sounds a little high for just 275's you should pick up an adjustable boost elbow while your at it and set it too your pyrometer. The boost elbow that came from edge is a joke with the little hole. More boost does not mean more power if your egts are low.

Ez

by boost elbow you are just talking about the little brass elbow on the compressor housing right? If so I still have the one that came with the edge box that I mentioned before. Why would I need an adjustable one? With just 275's would I be able to get the egt's too hot? Sorry if these are dumb questions.

thanks,

Cory

I don't remeber the egts on just the 275's because I put on an older style wire tap box shortly after. With box and 275's 30lb was good for me. The elbow that edge sent me [just a small hole drilled] with the comp kept my boost way too high most of the the time. It is a fine line balancing boost-fuel properly.

If you are getting your 27lbs without an elbow it won't be too high. [brass elbow on the compressor housing]

Are you running a pyro?

yes I do have a pyro, and I still have the boost elbow on it from edge which I think does just have a little hole in it. Do you know anything about the Ez is it a good box or is it hard on the injection pum

Edge makes top notch products. If you have any EZ it is very unlikely to hurt the vpp44. With the ez and 275's you should see about 30lbs boost and they are a great box. You said earlier that you had and older style wire tap box on your truck, is this what you are calling the EZ. [all the EZ that I have seen do not wire-tap. ] [the comp wire-taps]

no, I was just saying what I had, and I had a bunch of problems with it, I could get about 37 psi with it, how does the ez hook up? I just don't want to hurt the pump.

The Ez plugs into a connector with a factory cap on the drivers side down by the frame rail and to the map plug. [5 min install] The ez is easy on the vp44 and has a boost fooler built into it. The hardest thing on vp44's are the lift pumps. Checking fuel pres standing still or every once and a while is still a gamble. To do it properly you need and in cab gauge with the actual psi @ current load.

My vp44 is original with over 125k and has seen 2 wire tap boxes. Injectors and box were added very early.

I put over 192,000 on my first pump but i had a pusher pump on it most of the time also, what is the cost of the EZ? How does the fooler that Piers have work? does it just plug into the map sensor?

I think edge has a special on boxes right know. Check the site sponsors. Piers fooler would plug into the map sensor. If your not in a hurry I'll know in the next week about stepping into an 05. If I do all the goodies will be listed including the comp.

By site sponsors do you mean just go to edge's site or other vendors that sell them, the comp taps into the pump wire right.
