Your story sounds like you were looking for a reason to convince yourself that a new Dodge-Cummins is a bad idea.

I replaced the OEM injectors on my first 2001 Dodge with Bosch 275hp motorhome injectors at around 16k and they remain in it today at 350k. I put 230k on an '06 and never replaced an injector. Joe Donnelly makes a convincing argument for replacing them by that odometer reading due to wear but my '06 still ran good when I sold it.

I don't expect to replace an injector in my '08 for years if ever.

Dodge dealers are always the worst place to buy a Cummins part. I priced injectors for my '06 at a Cummins distributor prior to replacing a bad fuel pressure regulator. A "six pack" of new Bosch injectors for an '06 was about $1500 if I remember correctly.

Don't let a Dodge dealer parts counter salesperson's inflated price quote prevent you from buying a great truck.
