americana,

Sounds like you rChebby friend didnt want his wimpy gasser to be outdone by a REAL pickup. I towed 5-12K between Denver and Cheyenne one summer with a stock 92 D350 with a stock auto (518 O/D and no lockup), and had no trouble till the TPS acted up one day. I still went 65 up I-25 in 3rd. I now tow anywhere from 10-12K behind my 9300# D350 (5 spd- turned up considerably; have guages now) and have no trouble. The 93 has the 12 cm housing, and I can hit 27 psi here at 6500 ft. I still dont have the potential of the newer trucks. The only thing I would worry about is stopping; Newer brakes are better than our first Gens, but still... ...

10k should be no problem. I've used my dads 97 all stock 2500 to haul grain in gravity wagons in tandem. Total weight was over 40k, through the factory hitch, no tongue weight. Just had to be extremly careful when stopping, no brakes on the running gears. alonzo
