I straightpiped my cummins yesterday and am happy with the sound. It's got 2 resonating rpm's, 1400 and 2200 but I can live with that. Am I going to have any problems with the law now? It's 3 inch from turbo to tailpipe!

Way different location but I got my 24 valve in Nov of 2000 and it was straight piped a week later. Put full 5 inch on it last Oct. and have never once been pulled over or harrassed about the noise. I once made a bunch of kids cover their ears out in Rapid City, but thats about it.

Is it too loud? What kind of question is that? WOOOHAAAAAA! Are you insane man? You're going to have so much fun with that, it's just begun. Imagine starting the beast in the parking lot while aunt Millie and her deaf sister are walking by the right rear of your truck. You fire it off and aunt Millie's hearing aid sends her into orbit, she jumps out of her baggy skin, and you chuckle.

You'll love it!

I've driven all over Can and the US with a 4" straight pipe, never had a problem. Had a few compliments and even had an elderly (70+) man ask me how he could make his sound like that  .

The biggest thing I do is make sure I don't stand on it when there's any law enforcement around. I'm pretty sure if I wound it up with the cops beside me (or close by) I'd be answering some questions.

It definitely draws attention, no doubt about it.

FWIW, in Tx I'm told the turbocharger is considered a muffling device and a state insp can be passed with straight pipes. Deezul1 can probably verify that.

TX Inspection

I'm in Texas too - just got a new state inspection with no problem(with a 4" straight exhaust).

But according to some of my passengers, it is too loud when you are riding in the back(bed) while cruising the beach and have to get on it a little in the deep sand...

On mine, I took the down pipe back to the back of the cab, then Y'ed into rwo 4" tailpipes. N0oo muffler. I think the 2 tailpipes may help quell the drone. I have none- the un-muffled sound is the best
