Is Mopar ATF+4 Synthetic?

I read another post a while back about this. A Chevron web site stated that Chryslers ATF+4 was a synthetic based fluid.



I am preparing to change my atf fluid again on my 2001 truck and was considering using the Amsoil brand atf fluid this time around.

But if the Mopar ATF+4 is synthetic I will keep using it instead.



I just wanted to get facts on this if any of you out there know for sure. I would call the parts counter at the dealer and ask but I doubt they have any idea.

Yes it's synthetic based. Says so on the bottle.

Where do you guys find ATF+4? I've never seen it.

Only place I know of is the dealer. I paid ~$27 gallon. This makes it competitive with synthetics.

ATF +4 is a dealership only item right now and is full synthetic. Amsoil synthetic is a approved fliud to be used is so desired... ... ... Andy

I had two bottles of Mopar ATF+4 left over from the last transmission fluid change. I couldn't find the word synthetic anywhere on the bottle. I guess they used a technical term for the word synthetic back then, or changed it to a synthetic fluid recently.



Thanks for the input, I'll look at the bottle again tomorrow and post what Mopar called the fluid at that time.

The Mopar ATF+4 bottle that I have says:



"Specially formulated from high VI base stock and a unique additive package. " It also says it is a "Fill for Life" automatic transmission fluid under normal driving conditions. (That last statement is a good clue!)

Are those big words for synthetic? I'm not a chemical engineer.
