OK guys,
I've been having many conversations with my diesel friends so i wanted to see what the experts have to say. I have a lifted 04. 5 dodge with a bunch of trinkets on it. 4 inch lift with 35 inch BFG's, Big hoss bundle, 50hp injectors and stock auto-transmission but have a pro-weld transmission cooler with fan filled with amsoil fluid. I pull a raptor toy-hauler with it on the weekends. It has tons of power but the transmission is very hard to keep cool. When in traffic it i can see upwards of 230 degrees on the banks programmer I also have a mag-hyte transmission pan with a gauge installed in it and i'm reading about 190 when the banks says 230. 1st question is where is the banks PDA getting its signal from in the transmission. Output fluid of the transmission is what i'm thinking.
Second. Does anyone know of a good transmission builder in the Dallas Texas area? I want to get the trany built up because i want to put twin turbos on it soon and i'm tired of heating up the trany every-time i pull my trailer with it. I
seen allot of posts on this site and find allot of them hard to believe. Dodge trucks seem to run allot hotter EGT's then the competition. In stock form i have seen 1400 degrees in my truck but only for a short period. After the banks install 1200 max at wide open, but it will creep up higher pulling a loaded camper in overdrive, you have to watch yourself with the throttle. And last thing. Why do they have a tow mode on the trany. Every time i use it my temp increases in the transmission and the trucks engine is screaming at 65 mph. I guess they don't want you to go highway speeds while pulling a camper. Now i am a mechanic, i've done every mode on my truck myself and i drive tractor trailers part-time so i know allot about diesels and how to drive them. I'm just wondering what you all are thinking? Thanks
