I know the true audio heads will say it was dead when new but for many of us the Infinity is good enough and mine doesn't seem to sound as good as it did when new.

I have found over time I have slowly increased the treb and am now at max setting while also slowly over time have decreased the bass and am now at min setting.

An 0/0 setting gives a muddy sound thats hard to explain, almost like having too much base with poor speakers and treb is faint.

Anyone else out there that has experienced this?

I don't think its me cuz I had an 02 3rd gen 1500 infinity that sounded way better than my 05.

Ditto... ... My 06 sounded pretty good at first and now it sounds muffled and sometimes at low levels you can hear the speaker (or speakers) buzz like they are split or blown. I wonder if the amp is a POS?

Your trucks are pretty new compared to my wife's 2000 Durango, but I just had to replace all the Infinity speakers in her ride. The speaker cones were weathered and cracked, and they just buzzed and rattled with any bass mixed in at all.

Headunits don't usually slowly die, but speakers do. Headunits just all up and kick the bucket.

If it were my truck, I would go down to your local sound shop and have them install an amp, and 4 good speakers. You'll thank me later.

I find the Infinity system more marketing than anything, in fact between the base stereo and the upgrade I can hardly tell a sizeable difference. I see it namely as a wow feature if your already looking at getting a Laramie, but I couldn't see spending the extra coin on the Infinity sound group when specifically ordering a truck.

Thats interesting you say that Ryan,

My 03 non infinity 4 speaker sounded so bad after I traded in the 02 Infinity I had to do something, so added dash speakers, changed the door speakers and added an amp. That mod made a nice difference. When I bought the 05 with Infinity it sounded just as good as the 03 with the mods but not anymore.

I replaced the single disc cd for the REC/Nav last weekend, this weekend I will be installing an Alpine f450 4 channel 400watt amp and 4 JL Audio(VS600, VS690) speakers in the doors(stock locations and 2 infinity tweeters(unamped) in the dash. I'll let you all know what it sounds like after the switch. Brian

That will be interesting to know how it comes out. On my 03, 4 speaker system I powered the dash tweeters I added with the HU and used a 4 channel amp to power the doors.

I have had a shop recomend the clean sweep if I was going with amp etc. There seems to a lot of debate about he Infinity set-up in these. One shop told there is a series of seperate amps, another said that each speaker has an amp built into the basket. I know the last vehicle I had with Infinity (01 Durango R/T) sounded horrible with an amp.

i have a clean sweep thats pratically brand new only in my truck for about 4 wks then i took it out since i changed the deck out. PM if interested
