Hi all I just got my fuel pressure gauge installed and I am not sure if these #s are good,I hope someone can give me some feedback.

At idle it is 9 psi and at 70 mph it was around 7 and at WOT it was 4. 5 this don't sound good to me,ive seen the needle peged on some trucks. Also I can hear the pump run everytime I turn the key on,or when I bump the starter,it runs for like 10 or 15 seconds. Also I get a 1693 code and I unhook the batteries and clear it and it comes back,Any feedback would be appreciated. . Thanks

dave:confused:

P. S were is the best place to get a lift pump,dealer wants $385 for one,and I dont have a Cummins Dealer close to me. .

I'd be concerned....

my numbers on a 15psi gauge.

idle = 14-14. 5

Steady 60-70 mph. = 13-14

WOT = 6-9 (I'm a little concerned, but at hard acceleration (aggressive, but not WOT), I'm 9-11.

Wow... same problem

My buddy just installed his gauge today and reports only about 6psi at idle and drops to about 4psi at WOT. :eek: I told him that sucks!! My truck is 12-13 psi at idle and drops to no lower than 9psi at WOT. Is his pump on the way out? :confused: Will the dealer consider these pressures bad?? Appreciate a response..... thanks!!

Post or pre filter/? numbers sound ok if you have not changed the filter at time of gauge instal you do not have a base line ,but DC will not change pump as long as you have about 5 psi at idle and any plus reading at WOT . Cummins will send you a pump from web site order . 139$ and SH . With new filter pre to post filter reading should not be more than 1 psi and with used filter no more than 5 psi . If you see 5 psi time to change filter. Hope this helps . Ron in Louisville KY :confused: :confused: :confused: :D

I changed the filter about 2 weeks ago,but I am going to change again in the morning.

The gauge is before filter. .

I would consider that filter new if you only had it in for 2 weeks and know that the fuel was ok in the tank to start with , I would look at the filter and if it still looks good go with it until next change . Ron in Louisville KY . PS all pumps are not created equal . If it runs good and readings constant as they say in NY NY forgetaboutit . LOL Ron in Louisville KY:eek: :eek: :eek: :D

Dave, there are 3 Cummins Michigan locations within 40 miles of flint (lift pump should be ~$140 there - P/N 3990105). Go to www.cummins.com and then to service locator and you can do a search that will give you the local outlets.
