Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Is my t/case going out?

Last night I tried to put my truck in 4low and it would'nt go. The shifter would not even move up to the 4low position. It goes in 4hi with no problem but wont go in 4lo and i did push it pretty hard and no movement. Does anyone have any suggestions what the problem could be? Thanks corey

Did you try moving the truck any while pushing on the lever. Check to make shure that the linkage is not bound up on something. If it is something internal the t-case is very simple to tear apart and put back together, did mine this summer when a snap ring broke. $3 worth of parts and $80 in gaskets. Hope this helps. Dean

Have you been through any really deep snow, meaning you could have jammed some ice and or branches into the mechanism. Otherwise, I've found that they go into low a lot easier if you through the transmission into neutral, and be rolling forward SLIGHTLY..... keep us informed..... have you checked the oil level?

Check to see if the linkage is out of adjustment. Sometimes the bolt will slide on the rod.
