I know that setting #3 on EZ turns on fuel @ 2psi, but @ this boost level, there isn't air to burn the fuel, hence the smoke @ low boost. Setting #2 turns on fuel @ 10psi when there is boost enough to burn the fuel so is #3 really worth it other than to smoke the Powerjoke/durakpuke behind you out?

I think it is. When running #3 I get better power and mileage. The truck doesn't use as much throttle to maintain speed up hills and such. Careful using the throttle a low (-1500) RPM's, my clutch is not happy with that behavior.

Yeah yeah yeah... I know Jordon--your truck is fast.

BTW... some duramax dude wants to race you for pink slips... You in? :D

What smoke? Just a little puff when you first get on it and thats about all unless you have some injectors to go with it.

I too was wondering about setting #3 verses #2. Does each truck act differently at a given setting ?

If it causes smoke with a stock set-up, I wonder why EZ ships the boxes at setting #3?

Challenger, hang in there on level three a little while, I'll bet your smoke will all but go away. I Don't know why, and am by no means an expert on when/how much fuel the EZ adds at each setting, but, after running my EZ for a year now I do know this: With the EZ on setting 3, the truck does not smoke anywhere near as much as when I first installed the EZ. I don't know if the ECM has "learned" to compensate for the EZ to some extent or what. I know the EZ is still working, the truck runs great. It does not seem to have lost any power, just smoke.

Mark- I'm always up for racing a d-max. Pink slips sure no problem, I wouldn't mind having a chevy as a beater. lol

Mark- It's the altitude here that makes it smoke like a locomotive in #3. I'm running mine in #2 around here to keep from being signaled that I am a 'number one' driver. ;)

Took a couple of trips to the Left Coast last summer, and while out there at sea level or thereabouts put the EZ back to level 3 and saw less smoke hauling around all of my stuff there, than running empty here on level 2.

I'm thinking about getting the EZ Comp, so that you can change programming from the cab, instead of under the hood. Oo.

I'll go to a comp once my warranty runs out. I'll be back to TN in May so I'll switch my box over to #3 and see what happens smokewise.

He is in Illnois. If you win though, it won't be anything off him as he as multiple Mercedes as well as other cars. He's on Coloradok5.com under the need tow vehicle post.

If he comes out, let's get all the TDR there to see it!

#2 with DD1's for me!

I just added the EZ and BHAF to my DD1's which I've had almost since new. The smoke is more of a nuisance to me and i try to avoid it out of respect for those behind me. I have not tried the other two settings, just made sense to have the extra fuel come in at 10 PSI so I can avoid it altogether if I want to.

This set-up rocks for towing. I just came back from a trip to SoCal across route 40 grossing right at 20k. The only thing that could touch me on hills was the occasional overpowered semi. I am taking local hills in 5th @ 62 @ 20k that previously required 4th @ 50 @ 19k. EGT's are down too, I almost never saw 1150 and could not make it go above 1200 pre-turbo. Mostly in to 10-1050 range on hills. :D
