Is the 06 Cummins junk??

I love my 06, have had several ctd's and this one is the smoothest and the quietest. I wonder if anyone who has had warranty problems (not self induced) has the extended warranty. I bought it because i heard here and the other ctd board that it was superior to the 3/36 that now comes std?

I'm a Dodge guy through and through I currently own 2 and have 2 other previously, and I have had no problem. With my 01, I became my own warrenty station because the mods I did to it. I just find it upsetting when $60,000 stock truck fails and there no warrenty. And say what you what to say, we all have are feeling on this matter - I just hope that this dosen't happen to anyone else like it has 2 people I know.

I have 8300 fairly rough miles on mine and I must say that so it has been great. I love this truck and I would buy another on in a heartbeat. Yeah, DC sucks the big one, but I don't really plan to deal with them. With what I am doing there are very few items I would even try to warranty, wether or not they would. When I bought the truck they wanted me to buy the extended warranty and I said no. He kept trying and finnaly I explained the reason for the purchase. When I told him the transmission would be out and rebuild within the first month his jaw hit the desk!! :-laf

Back to the topic, I loved my 03, awesome truck, sold at 90k for legal reasons, but great truck. New 06, I love it. I think they are getting better. I look forward to next year to see what is upcoming.

201,000 miles in 27 months. This truck has been the best I've owned. Well built from the ground up. Just got my first front end alignment at Brake Check yesterday and Im still on my factory brakes. I will buy several more.



Well heck, I own 2 of them. I better like them.

I can't speak to the 06's, but my 01. 5 and 04. 5 have both been great trucks. A lot of people praise the Cummins and bash the Dodge part of the truck. I think the whole package is great. I've never had any serious truck problems and zero engine problems, and the dealers have always taken good care of me. Neither Ford nor Chevy make anything I want. I love the long box quad cab. The Ford and Chevy extended cabs lack the 4 real doors and the crew cabs are tooooo loooong. The Dodge is just right. I also really like the manual trans, and both Ford and Chevy derate the engines with a manual trans, if you can get it at all. Color me a happy camper.

I have to seriously wonder about folks who pay $60k for a freaking truck.

ford dosent derate with the manual transmission,dont really understand why gm does,other than the fact of trying to push the allison[proably more profit].

Sorry for the mis-information. I still would not consider a Ford with a 6. 0 and the cab size would still be an issue for me.

i can t say about the $60K being good or bad, but i drove my 06 mega cab laramie ctd off the lot with everything on it except the sunroof for 48000 incl tax.
