I have a new 09 Dodge Cummins built February of 2009. Would the new flash (AS) that came out in March be a good thing to have done? Truck has 800 miles on it so far since purchase June 17, 2009.

Also have to add this is the first new diesel I've owned that has gone above my expectations. I owned a new 1999, 2005, 2006 Dodge Cummins and was disappointed in the drivability of all the trucks but needed the extra umph and fuel mileage vs. a gasser.

This new 2009 Dodge Cummins drives nicer, has more power, better transmission/gearing, more refined. This is the first truck I have owned that I can honestly say is a keeper.

Think i read the 09 model is at "AJ " pcm update. allready look at some of the other posts and it refers to it go to dodge tech authority link in other posts and look it up. This is a huge file it applys to all dodge chrysler vehicles and the current truck flashes are in the back or bottom of the file.

Click this link below to confirm available flashes as per model year:

Flash forest thread look there for more info:

AJ update is for 09 models

AS update is for 08 models

BA update is for 07 models

This for my 08 model year 6. 7 Auto (only) denoting PCM Flash "AS" done on monday 6/29/09. The mechanic put it on the left bottom side of the hood there is a little space in the hood blanket where it fits well.

Each flash update is model year specific

Thought I read the AS flash is for all 6. 7 ISB year models being the most current flash brought out in March of 2009. If I'm not mistaken Chrysler uses the most current flash for programming.

I put this in the other thread, but will repeat here.

Each model year has a different level of flash (e. g. 2007 - BA, 2008 - AS, and 2009 - AJ). They increase sequentially by model year as they come out with new versions, so the 2007 has presumably gone from AA-AZ and is now starting with BA. The 2008 has only had AA-AS. You get the idea.

You need the AJ flash. My truck was also built in Feb 2009 and came with the AC version. I'd recommend getting the new flash.
