My question is Im changing my filter is the Mag-tech trans pan worth it do you guys with it like it just want your inputs before I purchase it, Thanks

If you do your own Trans Fluids Change out it is the only way to go, I also have the rear Diff cover and think both well worth the money, hoping they will bring out a front Diff cover soon. :) Jack

Both covers are worth every penny. Maintenance is a so simple. The trans now runs 15 degrees cooler than stock. They are good long term insurance. Also, pans look awsome !

The Pan not only offers better cooling & larger Fluid capacity, it also strengthens the trans case. Thus helping it deal with the Cummins power better. Also you get some bragging rights when your truck is on the lift @ the muffler shop, when the installer says Geeezzzzzzzzz that Cooooooool :D :D

Mag-Hytech In Cold Climates

Who's using a Mag-Hytech pan in a cold climate?

I've got a magnetic pad heater on the bottom of my stock pan, and the only reason I hesitate to get a MH double-deep pan is because the pad heater wouldn't stick to the aluminum, much less the finned surface.

It doesn't get REAL cold here in Anchorage, but it can get down to -20 or so for short periods, and it would be nice to be able to pre-heat the transmission fluid just like I do with my engine oil (I have a similar pad heater on the bottom of my engine oil pan).

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

There are several racing companies that make screw in heaters all you would have to do is drill and tap the aluminum pan which you can't do with the steel one. I think that would be trick, I lived in North Dakota for a while and would try this myself if I was still there. Check these guys out: http://www.janyce.com/+wolver/heat.html

Jack january 2002 supposed to be out. saw the prototype at the depo showdown in october. You better believe this will be one of my new-years resolutions.

I like to do all of my own maintenance on every piece of machinery I own, from my Newholland tractor to JD gator, from my 1999 Honda Valkyre interstate and 1999 Kawasaki 1500 drifter, to my 1999 36. 5 Rexhall Aerbus motorhome etc etc etc--but most of all I like to take care of my pride and joy, my pickup truck; QUADZILLA. I have the differential cover and the transmission pan and both pieces make routine maintenance a joy---compared to the stock pieces. The workmanship is second to none and absolutely beautiful! You'll be tempted to wash both the trans and rear end covers every time you wash your truck! Keep the old covers so you can put them back on when you decide to sell.

My truck currently has 72,000 miles on it and has had only the front brake pads and tires replaced---absolutely nothing else has been fixed or replaced on the truck, not even a turn indicator bulb and it's never seen the inside of a DODGE dealer. Everything works perfectly and at least the inside looks just like new. It's hard to keep the outside looking new when living on a farm in the country! I may keep this truck forever! Take care, Sam
